Cat® Compaction
MEET COMPACTION TARGETS. PROVE THE WORK.
Take the guesswork out of compaction with Cat® Compaction technology. Real-time, in-cab information helps operators understand coverage, pass counts and compaction progress as they work — helping achieve more consistent results with fewer unnecessary passes.
When the work is complete, recorded compaction data provides greater visibility into job performance and helps document that the work was done right.
Make Every Pass Count
Cat Compaction technology gives operators better information about what is happening beneath the machine and across the work area.
Know When You've Hit the Target
Real-time compaction measurements help operators recognize when the desired result has been reached — and when it's time to move on.
Improve Coverage
In-cab mapping helps operators see where they've worked, how many passes have been made and areas that may still need attention.
Reduce Rework
Better information helps crews avoid under-compaction and unnecessary over-compaction, reducing wasted time, fuel and machine hours.
Compaction Technology for the Work You Do
Whether you're preparing a site, building a road or managing a landfill, Cat Compaction technologies help operators work more consistently and give managers greater visibility into results.
Soil Compaction
Monitor soil stiffness, coverage and pass counts as the work happens. Cat Compaction technology helps operators identify areas that need additional attention while reducing unnecessary passes over material that has already reached the desired result.
Asphalt Compaction
Monitor mat temperature, pass counts, coverage and material stiffness to help crews maintain consistent rolling patterns and achieve more uniform asphalt density.
Landfill Compaction
Use positioning, mapping and compaction measurement to help maximize coverage and density across the workface. Operators can see progress as they work while managers gain better information for evaluating landfill performance.
Cat Compaction Technologies
Different materials and applications require different measurements. Cat offers integrated technologies designed to give operators the information they need while the machine is working.
Machine Drive Power (MDP)
Know when the soil is ready.
Cat Compaction with Machine Drive Power measures rolling resistance to provide an indication of soil stiffness. Operators receive real-time information that can help identify areas requiring additional work and reduce unnecessary passes once compaction targets have been reached.
Optional mapping adds a visual record of the work as it happens.
Compaction Meter Value (CMV)
Measure stiffness below the drum.
CMV uses a drum-mounted accelerometer to provide an indication of material stiffness while the vibratory system is operating. Available for select soil and asphalt compactors, it helps operators evaluate compaction uniformity and identify potential areas of concern.
Temperature Indication
Compact asphalt at the right time. Infrared temperature sensors and GPS mapping provide operators with real-time asphalt temperature, machine position, pass-count and coverage information. This helps crews maintain consistent rolling patterns while working within the appropriate temperature range.
