Foley Equipment Company’s (Formerly Foley Tractor Co.) roots go back to the early 1940’s when Paul J. Foley had the opportunity to assist a newly formed dealership in Wichita.  Foley, who worked at the time in the Treasury Department of Caterpillar® Tractor Company in Peoria, Illinois, was asked to join this new firm and the Karcher-Wolter-Foley Company was formed.

In 1942, Mr. Foley purchased his partners’ interests in the dealership and the company became known as Foley Tractor Company.  The rest of the 1940’s saw expanding oil field and agriculture opportunities and Foley expanded with new stores in Great Bend and Pratt.

The Dodge City and Salina stores opened in 1958 when Foley Tractor acquired Roberts Tractor Company in western Kansas and part of Oehlert Tractor Company in Central Kansas.  During the next 20 years, significant changes came about for both Foley Tractor and Caterpillar.  Caterpillar introduced industrial and truck engines and Foley Tractor responded by expanding with an engine division.  Also, in 1973, there was a leadership change as Paul (Skip) J. Foley II became President of the company.

Caterpillar and Foley continued to grow with several new product introductions in the 80’s and 90’s.  These products included backhoe loaders, building construction products, compact construction equipment, and agricultural tractors and equipment.

During the 90’s a third generation of the Foley family began leading the organization.  Ann Konecny became president in 1997 and is the current CEO and Board Chair.  Foley opened Foley Rental-The Cat Rental Store in 1999.  Foley Rental has grown from a single location in Wichita to include Great Bend and Park City as well   Another expansion to better serve truck customers was the opening a truck service center in Wichita in 2001.  In 2003, Foley added a parts store in Liberal specializing in the petroleum and construction business.

On November 2nd, 2009, Foley Equipment Company acquired Martin Tractor Company adding an additional 50 counties, 12 locations and a combined total of 165 years of equipment experience to its customers. Foley can now offer an enhanced set of resources to deliver even better and more comprehensive customer service and business solutions to its customers through-out Kansas. “By combining the passion, experience and knowledge of two long standing leaders, we will enhance our ability to serve customers,” said Ann Konecny, President and CEO of Foley Equipment Company.

Foley Equipment Company now has 23 locations serving ALL of Kansas except Doniphan, Atchison, Leavenworth, Wyandotte, Johnson, and Cherokee Counties. Foley is headquartered in Wichita and has now has 8 full service locations, 5 rental locations and 9 other specialty stores in convenient locations across Kansas. Foley also has a newly built 127,000 sq. ft. Rebuild Center just north of Wichita, which provides complete services for engine, hydraulic and component rebuilds.

Foley, Cat and the Ag Market

Caterpillar began producing Challenger tractors in 1987, the Challenger Tractor being the world's first rubber-tracked agricultural tractor.  This opened an important market in Kansas for Foley to serve.  Caterpillar later sold the Challenger line to AGCO Corporation in 2001.  Foley took on the Challenger line and continues to grow the products and services offered in the ag market.  Today, Foley remains dedicated to the agricultural business as the Challenger tractor dealer and an AgChem parts and service provider.  In addition Foley offers a wide range of Sunflower Tillage, ICON and White Planter products as well as Foley’s unceasing commitment to world class product support.

Technology is increasingly becoming essential to customer success.  Seeing this trend, Foley became a Trimble/Accugrade machine control and guidance dealer as well as an Ag Leader dealer.  These products offer customizable technology solutions for your specific operations and Foley has assembled a team to support this technology to maximize your investment.

Product support is key for Foley.  Foley’s parts departments strive to deliver the right part to the right place at the right time to keep you running. Resident field technicians are located throughout our territory.  Our factory trained shop & field service technicians strive to fix your equipment right the first time, with a sense of urgency.  We serve the construction, truck, agriculture, and engine market 24 hours a day.

Providing quality service to the construction, agriculture, truck engine and power generation fields, Foley is dedicated to being Your First Choice.
